Privacy policy

Data controller

The data controller is Lëtz Pilot SARL-S, 7 avenue du Swing, L-4367 Belvaux, Luxembourg (Luxembourg Trade and Companies Register B311241). For any question about your data: contact@letzpilot.lu.

This policy applies to both Askfreelance websites, askfreelance.lu (Luxembourg) and askfreelance.work (France), which have the same data controller and a shared database.

Data collected

  • Freelancers / extras: identity, contact details, trades, experience, area, countries, availability, status, indicative rate, presentation, service offers; optional photo, for public profiles only.
  • Businesses: company name, identifier (SIREN / RCS), sector, town, contact person’s details, job offers.
  • Applications and messages: name, contact details, message.
  • Profile contact requests: the employer’s company, name, contact details, job and message.
  • Technical data: a session cookie; a non-reversible fingerprint of the IP address kept for at most 24 h to limit abusive submissions.

Purposes and legal bases

  • Matching businesses and professionals, following up requests: pre-contractual steps taken at your request and consent collected in the forms.
  • Publishing a profile in the public directory: your explicit, separate consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • Site security and abuse prevention: legitimate interest.

Who sees your data?

By default, freelancer profiles are not published: only the Askfreelance team sees them. Your contact details are only passed on to a company (or a freelancer) as part of a match you requested or accepted. Published job offers show neither the contact person’s name nor their contact details. No data is sold.

Processors: server host IONOS SE (Montabaur, Germany). No e-mail sending service is used at the moment.

Public profiles (freelancer directory)

If you tick “Make my profile visible to employers”, your profile is published in the directory after our team has reviewed it. This box is optional, unticked by default and separate from the consent given for your registration.

  • Data displayed: first name and initial of your last name, photo if you add one, trades, experience, languages, city and countries, availability, status, presentation, approved service offers and, if you choose, an indicative rate.
  • Never displayed: full name, email, phone. Any contact details typed into the texts are masked automatically. Employers go through Askfreelance, which arranges the introduction.
  • Search engines: you can ask for your profile not to be indexed by Google and other search engines (“noindex” tag).
  • Photo: re-encoded and cropped by us, stored outside the public area of the site and served only while the profile is published.

Withdrawing consent: at any time, using the private management link given at registration (“Hide my public profile” button or full deletion), or by writing to us. The profile is then removed from the directory immediately and the photo deleted; copies already stored by search engines may take a few days to disappear.

Retention period

Data is kept for 24 months after the last contact, then deleted or anonymised (period to be confirmed). You can ask for them to be deleted at any time.

Your rights

You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability, as well as the right to withdraw your consent. To exercise them, write to contact@letzpilot.lu. You can lodge a complaint with the CNPD (Luxembourg) or the CNIL (France).

Supervisory authorities: CNPD (Luxembourg), lead authority since the controller is established in Luxembourg; users living in France may also contact the CNIL.

Security

Data is stored on a server of the host IONOS SE located in Germany (European Union, according to the RIPE registry of the IP address), in a database that is not publicly accessible. Access to the administration is password-protected and the site is served over HTTPS.
